As a rule, I do not like poetry. I find that I rarely understand what’s being conveyed and I just want the person to say what they mean. However, I have written a handful of poems in my life. In an effort not to be a hypocrite, here are descriptions to go along with them.
Two Souls - This one is very much tied to the love of my life and husband (he’s the same person). It goes very nicely to the song ‘Inside My Love’ by Minnie Riperton.
Hail the Nightmare - This one is a tribute to September 11th. I was one of millions to turn on the TV that morning and watch the towers fall with all those people still inside. So having it repeated over and over for a week that next year… I found it so distasteful and… It was like a desecreation of the memory for me. I just needed to write something about it.
Ending - I actually forgot that I had written this one. It happened to a close friend of mine, and no, I am not talking about myself in the third person. Fortunately, the police were able to get the situation under control before she ended up dead, but as she lay in the hospital explaining it to me, I felt compelled to write something about it.
